# Get started with Nodary

From an empty workspace to linked documents your team and its AI agents work in: create an account, write, link, invite, and connect an agent.

Updated on 22 October 2026.

## Create your account

1. Open the sign-up page and enter your name, your email address and a password of at least 10 characters with letters and digits.
2. Name your space if you like, under Name my space; without a name it is called My space. You can rename it later wherever you see its name.
3. Open the email Nodary sends you, follow its link to confirm your address, then sign in.

**Your plan:** a new workspace is on Free, with no card and no time limit: 2 members, 1 project, 10 documents and folders, 50 MB of files and 20 ☄ of Studio AI a month.

## Write your first document

When you first arrive, Nodary offers three ways in: Write my first document, Start from a template, or Explore my space. Home then lists your first steps and ticks them off as you go.

- Type / to open the block menu: headings, lists, checklists, tables, sheets with formulas, diagrams, boards, pictures and more.
- Type # for a heading, - for a list or [] for a checklist, and select words to format them.
- Type [[ and a title to link another document: the other document then lists what links to it.
- Start from a template, such as a product requirements document, a project brief or a research note, or save any document as a template.

## Find your way on the map

Every document of a project is a star on the map, and folders group them like clusters you open. Drag a document onto a folder to file it, or link two documents and say why: related, inspired by, blocks or depends on.

The same project reads as columns, and documents with a due date appear on the calendar and the schedule.

## Invite your team

Open Settings, then Members, and invite people by email or with a link, valid 14 days. Choose each person’s role:

- Owner: full control, including members, seats and billing.
- Admin: invites people and changes roles below owner, and edits any document. Seats and billing stay with the owner.
- Editor: edits any document and creates new ones.
- Commenter: reads every document and comments.
- Reader: reads every document and its discussions, without commenting.

A commenter or a reader can be given more on one project or one document. The Free plan holds 2 members; on Pro and Studio, each member uses a seat.

## Bring in what you already have

On the map, choose Import and drop a folder or a ZIP: Markdown and text files, an Obsidian vault with its [[links]], a Notion or Confluence export, Word files and CSV tables become linked documents. You see the tree before anything is created.

## Work with AI

Studio AI is the assistant built into Nodary: it reads the workspace and writes documents block by block, within your role. Free includes 20 ☄ a month to try it, and each answer says what it cost.

To work from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code or VS Code instead, connect them to the MCP server: every plan includes it, Free within its limits.

- [ChatGPT](https://nodary.ai/docs/mcp/chatgpt)
- [Cursor](https://nodary.ai/docs/mcp/cursor)
- [Claude Code](https://nodary.ai/docs/mcp/claude-code)
- [VS Code](https://nodary.ai/docs/mcp/vs-code)

## When you need more room

When the workspace reaches a free limit, the owner or an admin can try Studio free for 14 days, with no card, once per workspace and once per owner: a workspace whose owner already had a trial elsewhere does not get another. Pro and Studio are paid per seat, and nothing is deleted when a limit is reached.
