# Plan the project on the documents that describe it.

Each document has an owner, a due date, a status and its review. A calendar and a schedule show every date, live views turn any set of documents into a board, a table or a timeline, and a burn-up says whether the milestone lands by its target. One rule decides what is overdue, everywhere.

## Every document says who has it, by when, and where it stands

Give a document an owner, a due date and a status: draft, in review, approved, published, done or blocked. See every due date on a calendar and a schedule, and drag a card to another day, or press Alt with the arrow keys. Select many documents on the map to set their owner, status, due date or tags at once, each change with its Undo. Label a link blocks or depends on, and it becomes a blocker the map draws as an arrow. Filter the map to what is yours, overdue, due this week or undated, and colour it by due date.

- Six statuses, from draft to done, and blocked
- A calendar and a schedule of every due date
- Owner, status and dates of many documents changed at once
- Each status change recorded with who and when

What it does not do: There is no time tracking and no recurring task: a document is due once, and you move its date when the plan changes.

## Live views: a board, a table, a timeline

Insert a live view in any document, and it lists the documents that match: as a list, a table, a board of columns, a gallery, a timeline or a progress chart. Give a project's documents typed properties, or start from a preset such as Tasks, with priority, an estimate and a sprint, and views filter, sort and group by them. Save a view, personal or shared, and open it by its link. A view placed in a status report stays live, so the report never goes stale.

- Six views: list, table, board, gallery, timeline and progress
- Typed properties, from a preset or your own
- Drag a card to change its status, or a bar to change its dates

What it does not do: A timeline does not schedule: moving one document never shifts the documents that depend on it.

## Know whether the milestone lands

The progress view draws a burn-up of finished work against scope, from the recorded status history. It gives the weekly pace, the day the work lands at that pace and a verdict against your target date, then lists what is left, the late documents first, each with who has it. Move the target date and the pace the team needs follows. An agent reads the same numbers with get_progress, so a weekly update starts from facts.

- Finished against scope, week by week
- The landing day at the current pace, against your target
- What is left, late documents first

What it does not do: The burn-up reads statuses recorded since 29 September 2026, and a document added to the milestone later counts in scope from the day it was created.

![A live progress view for a milestone: finished against scope, the burn-up, the target date, and what is left with the late documents first and who has them.](https://nodary.ai/marketing/progress-view.webp)

_Until a week of statuses is recorded, the view says it is too early to tell._

## Cut the scope to its budget

In a list or a table view, sort the work by priority and set a cut line: after a number of documents, or where their estimates pass a budget in days, points or hours. What falls below the line is cut, dimmed but still readable. Drag the line or move it with the arrow keys, and the budget follows it, so a scope conversation happens on the list itself rather than in a meeting about it.

- A budget on any number property
- The line says what it holds against the budget, and how many are cut
- Shared pages, print and Markdown say where the line falls

What it does not do: The line follows the view's order: a smaller item further down is never pulled above the line to fill the gap.

## See what moved since you last looked

Open a document others changed since you last read it, and a note above it says what changed and who did it; one click opens the history on the version you saw, compared with now. The activity feed lists edits, status changes, assignments, due dates, reviews and comments, newest first, and an agent asked for the week's summary reads the same events.

- What changed since your last visit, and by whom
- Every version compared with now, word for word
- A weekly summary written from the same events

What it does not do: Changes to custom properties do not appear in the activity feed; statuses, owners and due dates do.

## Ask an agent where the project stands

get_progress gives an agent the same burn-up in words and data: in scope, finished, left, the weekly pace and the landing day against your target. list_stars filters by owner, review, due date, lateness and blockers, recent_changes returns the week's events, and set_due_dates or update_stars change many documents in one call, each change signed in your name.

> Is the launch milestone on track for its target date? List what is late, who has it and what is blocked, then move the three lowest-priority items to next month.

Tools it calls: `get_progress`, `list_stars`, `recent_changes`, `set_due_dates`

## Questions

### Is Nodary a project management tool?

It plans the work where it is written. Documents carry owners, due dates, statuses, reviews and blockers, and live views, a calendar, a schedule and a burn-up track them. It has no time tracking, recurring tasks or Gantt dependencies, so a team that needs those keeps a dedicated tool for them.

### Does it sync with Jira, Linear or GitHub?

No, there is no sync with Jira, Linear or GitHub today. An agent connected over MCP can create up to 25 documents or change up to 50 in one call, so it can bring a list in or take one out.

### How does the burn-up decide whether a milestone lands?

Scope is the documents in the view today, finished means done or published in the recorded status history, and the pace comes from the last two weeks. Until a week of history exists, the view says it is too early to tell; it never projects from guesses.

### What counts as overdue?

A document whose due date has passed and whose work is not finished. Done, published and approved work is never overdue, and the same rule applies on the map, the calendar, the schedule and for agents. Filter the map to overdue to see every late document at once.

### Can I plan sprints?

With properties, yes: the Tasks preset adds priority, an estimate in hours and a sprint, and views filter, sort and group by them. A cut line can use the estimate as its budget. There is no sprint board with story points or velocity.

### Is planning in the Free plan?

Yes. Due dates, statuses, the calendar, live views, the burn-up and the cut line are on every plan. The Free plan holds two members, one project and ten documents and folders; Pro and Studio raise the members and projects and lift the document limit.
