# Fold long documents, jump to a section, count words.

23 October 2026 · By the Nodary team

Fold the sections you are not reading, jump to any heading, count words as you write, give each task an owner, and play YouTube, Vimeo, Loom or Figma in place.

A long design document is read in parts and written over weeks. Its outline sat in a side panel that was often closed, every section stayed open whether you needed it or not, nothing said how long the document had grown, a to-do’s owner could not be chosen, and a video could only be linked. This release adds the small tools long documents need.

## Fold what you are not reading

Every heading of the two main levels now folds its section: the arrow beside it hides everything up to the next heading of the same level or higher, and the heading says how many blocks it hides, 2 hidden blocks. Folds are kept for that document in your browser, in the editor and in the reader alike. They never change the document: teammates see it whole, and print and exports show everything. Whatever needs a folded part opens it: a search, a link to a part, the outline, a comment and Studio AI’s Show.

## The outline, one click away

Show the outline, in the editor’s header while the details panel is closed and in the reader’s toolbar, lists the document’s headings over the page, the current one marked. Choose one, or move with the arrow keys and press Enter, to go there. Ctrl+K has Go to a section: type a few words of a heading and press Enter.

## Words, counted as you write

At the foot of the editor, a quiet count says how many words the document holds, or how many are selected. Open it for words, characters, the selection, and the words each character speaks in dialogues and screenplays. It counts text, lists, checklists, tables, quotes, dialogues and screenplays, not code, spreadsheets or diagrams, and Chinese and Japanese are counted word by word. Agents reading a document with get_document get the same counts.

## Each task has an owner

Each to-do now has a button to choose who does it: the workspace’s members, you first, where you type a name, move with the arrows and press Enter; Nobody clears it. The owner shows on the task with their initials, and in the reader, in print, on share pages, in Markdown and in Word files. Agents set it by a member’s name or id.

## Videos that wait for a click

The / menu has Link or video: paste an address, and a card shows it with a title and a note that anyone who edits the document can change. YouTube, Vimeo, Loom and Figma addresses play right in the document, in the reader and on share pages, but only after a click on Load from YouTube, or Vimeo, Loom or Figma: nothing comes from those sites before. YouTube then plays from its privacy-enhanced address, and Vimeo with do not track. On paper, the card prints as its link. A paragraph can be turned into a card, and a card back into text.

## Paste an address, get a link

Paste a web address over selected words and they become a link; paste it anywhere else in a line and it goes in as a link. Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Loom or Figma address alone on an empty line, the first line of a new document included, and it becomes the player; one Ctrl+Z gives the address back as text. Ctrl+Shift+V still pastes plain text.

## Try it in your workflow

1. Open a long document and choose the arrow beside a heading to fold its section.
2. Choose Show the outline, or press Ctrl+K and choose Go to a section.
3. On a to-do, choose who does it and pick a teammate.
4. Paste a YouTube or Vimeo address on an empty line, then choose Load from YouTube or Load from Vimeo.

Folds belong to a browser: another computer, or a teammate, opens the document unfolded. A block moved into a folded section stays hidden until the section is opened. The word count shows in the editor, not in the reader. Only YouTube, Vimeo, Loom and Figma play in place; any other address is a link card. Once loaded, Loom and Figma may set their own cookies. A task’s owner is a name on the task: choosing it notifies no one. The live demo shows the folds and the outline on its documents; writing needs a workspace of your own, Free included.
