# Uploads and imports that survive a bad connection.

25 September 2026 · By the Nodary team

Each file shows its own progress, a lost connection pauses the transfer instead of failing it, only what failed is tried again, and an interrupted import picks up where it stopped without duplicates.

Trains, hotel wifi and busy servers should not cost you an import or make you hunt for the same file twice. Uploads, folder imports and project exports now carry on through a bad connection, and when something does fail, only that part is tried again.

## Every file, its own progress

An image shows how much of it has been sent, in megabytes, with a Cancel button. A folder import lists each of its files: waiting, sending, sent, or failed with the reason. When the connection drops, the transfer says it is waiting for it and carries on by itself when it is back; a busy server is tried again after a short pause, and a stalled transfer is restarted.

## Only what failed is tried again

An image that could not be sent keeps its file: Retry sends it again without making you find it. A folder import that finishes with problems offers to retry just the files that failed, then puts each image where it belongs, unless someone has changed that part of the document since, in which case it tells you which file to add by hand. A project archive that could not include a file fetches only that file again, reusing everything already downloaded.

## Pause, close, pick up where you stopped

A folder import can be paused, and it remembers what it has done even if the tab is closed. Choose the same folder or ZIP again and Nodary recognises it: the documents already created are marked as imported, and resuming creates only what is missing and never sends a file twice. If the connection dropped just as a document was being created, resuming finds that document and fills it instead of making a copy. Imported content only ever goes into a document that is still empty: if someone has already written in it, it is left as they made it and listed.

## Try it in your workflow

1. Open the demonstration and choose Export.
2. Export the Ecliptica project as a complete archive.
3. If a file could not be included, choose Try the missing file again.
4. Only that file is downloaded again, and the new archive contains it.

A resumable import is remembered in this browser for 14 days; browsers do not keep the files themselves, so choose the same folder or ZIP again to resume. A file refused for a lasting reason, such as a full storage allowance or a file over 50 MB, is reported with that reason; retrying helps once the reason is gone. The demonstration shows the export and the import preview; uploads and imports need an account.
