A spreadsheet inside the document, and documents that work like a database.
Put a real sheet where its numbers are explained: about 60 functions, references between the sheets of a document, formats, choice lists and validation, edited together cell by cell. Give a project’s documents typed properties, then list them as a table, a board, a gallery or a timeline that stays live. Agents read and write the same cells over MCP.

Formulas where the reasoning is written
A sheet is part of a document, next to the text that explains it. About 60 functions, from SUMIFS and XLOOKUP to INDEX, MATCH and PERCENTILE, reference the other sheets of the same document, and a chart drawn from a sheet, line, bar, area or scatter, follows every change. Colour past dates, near deadlines, missing values or numbers over a threshold, so what needs a look stands out. A formula error is explained in plain words, a division by zero or an unknown function, rather than left as a code to decipher.
- About 60 functions, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS and PERCENTILE among them
- Line, bar, area and scatter charts drawn from a sheet
- Highlights for past dates, missing values and thresholds
- Formats, choice lists and validation on each column
What it does not do A formula reads the sheets of its own document only; it cannot reference a sheet that lives in another document.
Bring workbooks in, and work on them together
Import a CSV file or an Excel workbook with a preview: choose the sheet, check each column’s type and keep leading zeros. Paste from a spreadsheet and get a sheet. Several people then type in the same sheet at once, and changes to different cells combine. Comment on a cell, mention a teammate, and resolve the thread when the number is settled; each editing session of up to ten minutes is a version you can compare and restore. When the connection drops, your edits stay on the device until you compare and apply them.
- CSV and Excel import with a preview of each column’s type
- Real-time co-editing, cell by cell
- Comments anchored to a cell
What it does not do An import brings a workbook’s cells, with their formulas or their last values; macros and pivot tables stay behind.

Documents with properties, listed like a database
Give a project’s documents typed fields: choice, multiple choice, number, date, person, text, checkbox or link. Start from a preset such as Tasks, Bug triage, Decision records or Content calendar, or define your own. A live view then lists the documents that match, as a list, a table, a board, a gallery, a timeline or a progress chart, filtered, sorted and grouped by those fields, and it stays current as the documents change. A board view moves a card to another column to change its value, and a timeline places documents by a date property. Properties show in each document’s details, and the map can be coloured by one.
- Eight property types and seven presets
- Six live views of the same documents
- Saved views, personal or shared, one link away
What it does not do A property holds a value; there is no relation property with rollups, and links between documents are drawn on the map instead.

Send the numbers where they are used
Export a document’s tables as CSV, or the whole document as Markdown, JSON or an editable PowerPoint whose tables and charts stay native. A read-only key reads a sheet or a string table over HTTP as JSON, CSV, gettext .po or XLIFF, so a build or a script always takes the current numbers. Agents read and write cells with get_sheet and set_cells. Print a document with its sheets to PDF from a paged preview, wide tables included.
- CSV, Markdown, JSON and editable PowerPoint exports
- A read-only data feed in JSON, CSV, .po or XLIFF
- Cells read and written by agents over MCP
What it does not do The data feed only reads: changes go through the app or an agent, never through the feed.

Tables that know their job
Some tables need more than formulas, and Nodary builds them in, with no plugin. A string table keeps a product’s text with a state per translation, checks each line’s length and placeholders, and exports files for Unity, Unreal and Godot. A loot table reads in players rather than percentages: the odds within 10, 50 or 100 pulls, the pull by which nine in ten players have an item, and what a pity rule changes. Agents read them with get_localization and analyze_drops.
- String tables with length and placeholder checks
- Exports to CSV, JSON, gettext .po and XLIFF
- Drop rates read in players, with pity rules
What it does not do A string table expects one row per key and one column per language, and drop rates read a table of weights; any other table is a plain sheet.

Agents that work in cells, not screenshots
get_sheet gives an agent a sheet’s cells with their formulas and computed values, and set_cells writes values or formulas into the cells it names. list_properties and set_properties read and fill a project’s fields by name, and run_view returns what a live view lists, so an agent can update a table of fifty rows or report on every document whose status is blocked. Formula errors come back in words, so the agent can fix what it broke.

Questions
Is it a real spreadsheet?
Yes. A sheet has about 60 functions, including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, SUMIFS and PERCENTILE, references to the other sheets of its document, formats, choice lists and validation, highlights and charts. It is edited together cell by cell.
Can I import Excel files?
Yes. A CSV file or an Excel workbook comes in with a preview: choose the sheet, check each column’s type and keep leading zeros. A workbook’s formulas come in as Nodary formulas, or as their last values if you prefer.
Can Nodary replace a database tool?
For documents, yes: typed properties, presets and six live views make a project’s documents filterable, sortable and groupable like rows. It has no relation properties with rollups and no formulas between documents, so a team that needs those keeps a database tool for them. Seven presets cover common cases: tasks, bug triage, decision records, a content calendar, an asset pipeline, quests and characters.
Can a formula use a sheet from another document?
No. A formula reads the sheets of its own document. Put sheets that feed each other in the same document, where a formula such as Prices!B2 reads another sheet, or let an agent copy values between documents.
How do I get the numbers into my build or my scripts?
With the read-only data feed: a key reads a sheet or a string table over HTTP as JSON, CSV, gettext .po or XLIFF, always current. The OpenAPI description is public at nodary.ai/api/v1/openapi.json. A string table also exports its files by hand from its Export menu.
Are sheets and properties in the Free plan?
Yes. Sheets, charts, properties and live views are on every plan. The Free plan holds two members, one project and ten documents and folders, each document holding as many sheets as it needs.
Keep the numbers next to the reasons for them.
Start free and add a sheet to any document, or open the live demo to change a formula and watch the chart follow.
Free for two members and ten documents. No card.
