The right cells. A clearer calculation.
Choose the cells behind a formula, preview the reference before inserting it and turn an error code into a useful explanation. Build calculations with your data in view.

You know what you want to calculate. Finding the right cells and understanding why a formula fails should not interrupt that thought. Nodary now brings the source cells and the explanation closer to your formula.
Choose the data while keeping your place
Place the cursor in the formula bar and choose cells. Select one cell or extend a rectangular range with Shift, the arrow keys or the touch-friendly selection control. The picker previews the formula before you insert the reference. Cancel returns to your original source and selection; insertion returns the cursor just after the new reference.
See where a formula reads
Reference chips under the formula bar match colored marks in the table. Select a chip to replace that reference directly. Cell addresses remain visible alongside color, and quoted text such as A1 is left as text. Existing dollar anchors can be preserved, or you can choose which rows and columns should stay fixed when filling cells.
Turn an error into a next step
A zero divisor, a deleted cell, a circular dependency and an unsupported function need different fixes. The formula bar now explains the failure detected by the calculation engine. When a dependency is responsible, its cell address appears with the error. Open the function examples when you need a starting point; the original formula remains editable.
Keep shared changes in view
The picker uses the table’s original row order and explains when your current view is filtered or sorted. You can inspect hidden rows without changing your view. If the formula or table structure changes while you are choosing, insertion stops and asks you to reopen from the current table. Changes to separate cells can remain available, and the insertion is part of spreadsheet undo.
Try it in your workflow
- Open the example and select the budget formula in D1.
- Choose its B1 or C1 reference chip, select another cell and inspect the formula preview.
- Try a range with Extend selection, or type an address such as B1:B3. Choose whether references should move when filled.
- Insert the reference, or cancel to keep the original. Try =B1/0 in the formula bar to see an explanation, then undo your edit.
The demonstration keeps changes on this page only. Saved documents require edit access. References are within the current table; cross-sheet and named references are not added by this release. The picker shows up to ten rows and six columns at once, with navigation and direct address entry. Reference chips and highlights are limited to the first 64 references and sources up to 16,384 characters; the full formula remains editable. Diagnostics follow the existing Nodary calculation engine and its supported functions, not full Excel or Google Sheets compatibility. Function arguments use commas and decimal literals use a dot. A rectangular range includes every cell between its endpoints, including rows hidden in your main view.
